Finally the lure of Instagram posts by @pophamsbakery became too great and I had to go and experience their wares. Something I’d put off for a long time as they’re a fair trek from where I live.
Who’d drive 45 mins for a croissant?
Well me… I would 😀 It’s a great way to lighten lockdown blues.
I sent my humble assistant to make the selection, as I knew she’d prefer to sample everything rather than just getting the breakfast in.
So what pastries did we get (starting clockwise top right):
Apple Crumble – had a great fragrance to it, sweet tasty, yum.
Candied Blood Orange, Earl Grey & White Chocolate Custard – probably the least favourite of the selection, not saying it was bad, but in comparison… it wasn’t as good.
Almond Croissant – As a fan of these, I was pleasantly surprised and event wifey ate it, and she hates things made with Almonds. I’d like to say it had a splash of orange blossom in there, but I could be wrong.
Rhubarb & Cardamom Custard – Rhubarb is one of those Marmite things to me, and I don’t (usually) like it, but in this case, it was rather good, so they nailed the one I thought I was least likely to like 👍🏻
Not pictured here, we also had their Marmite, Schlossberger, Spring Onion with coffee for the drive back, was a tiny bit salty but still pretty delicious.
The pastry was crispy and buttery, as your’d dream for, and although It’s not a cheap place for breakfast, we did eat more than a fair share for two people. So probably about the money for the quality of the items.
Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🔸
